Find answers to common questions about our notary services
What is a notary public?
A notary public is a state-appointed official who serves as an
impartial witness to the signing of important documents. The
notary's primary role is to verify the identity of signers, ensure
they are signing voluntarily, and witness the signing of documents
to help prevent fraud.
What documents do I need to bring to get something notarized?
You'll need to bring:
A valid, government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport,
state ID card)
The document(s) to be notarized (unsigned - you'll sign in my
presence)
Any additional copies if multiple notarizations are needed
Note: Do not sign the document before the appointment. You must sign
in front of the notary.
How much do notary services cost?
Notary fees vary depending on the type of service and location.
Standard notarization fees are set by state law. Mobile notary
services may include additional travel fees. Contact me for a
detailed quote based on your specific needs. I believe in
transparent pricing with no hidden fees.
Do you offer mobile notary services?
Yes! I provide convenient mobile notary services, traveling to your
home, office, hospital, nursing home, or any location of your
choice. This is especially helpful for those who have difficulty
traveling or need notarization services outside of regular business
hours.
What are your hours of operation?
I'm available 7 days a week with flexible scheduling to accommodate
your needs. Evening and weekend appointments are available. Same-day
service is often available depending on my schedule. Contact me to
schedule an appointment at a time that works best for you.
Can you notarize documents for family members?
No. Notaries cannot notarize documents for immediate family members,
including spouses, parents, siblings, children, or in-laws. This
restriction ensures impartiality and prevents conflicts of interest.
However, I'm happy to recommend another qualified notary if needed.
What's the difference between a notary public and a signing agent?
A notary public is authorized to witness signatures and administer
oaths on various documents. A signing agent is a notary public with
specialized training in handling loan documents for real estate
transactions. As both a notary public and certified signing agent, I
can handle all types of notarizations including complex real estate
closings.
How long does a notarization appointment take?
Most standard notarizations take 10-15 minutes. More complex
documents or multiple signers may require additional time. Real
estate closings typically take 30-60 minutes depending on the number
of documents. I allocate sufficient time to ensure accuracy and
answer any questions you may have.
Can you provide legal advice about my documents?
No. I am not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice. My role as
a notary is limited to verifying identities, witnessing signatures,
and administering oaths. If you need legal advice about your
documents or have questions about their content, please consult with
a qualified attorney.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, check, and most major credit/debit cards for your
convenience. Payment is due at the time of service. For mobile
appointments, please have payment ready when I arrive.
